Dallas, TX: Teams/Select Youth/Texas Bandits

C2C has created a program to give more boys the opportunity to play travel team lacrosse. How much more is up to you and your son!

We at C2C understand the demands of being a parent and getting kids involved in programs that help develop them as young athletes. However, there has to be a balance between family life, other sports, summer vacations, camps, and the list goes on. This program is designed to let your family regulate the commitment.

C2C Texas Bandits: everyone makes a team

C2C is pleased to announce the "Texas Bandits", our latest youth select program for all lacrosse student-athletes in the North Region of Dallas-Fort Worth serving the Hebron, Frisco, Plano, Plano West, Plano East, McKinney and Allen communities. Initial Texas Bandits teams will consist of under 9, under 11, under 13, under 15 and High School players. To qualify, your son must be not older than 8 (under 9), 10 (under 11), 12 (under 13), or 14 (under 15) as of September 1st, 2011 and in 9th grade and above for High School. Texas Bandits will accept players at all skill levels, so everyone can play "travel" lacrosse. The program is designed to help players develop the necessary skills to become one of the top lacrosse players in Dallas-Fort Worth. As the boys improve some will be invited to join the C2C Elite team for their age group. The current plan is to have a team at each age level to make sure everyone gets to play. Once our teams are full we will stop adding for the season which will run from now until the end of June. Workouts will start now but the focus will increase May 1st- June 30th.

Practice

Practice schedules will be flexible to allow for other commitments to be honored, but we will have additional workouts for the boys who want to spend more time on lacrosse. You can expect the minimum commitment to be one practice every two weeks with the opportunity to participate in up to two workouts each week if your son has the time and desire. Beginning May 1st the practice schedule will increase to at least one time per week.

Games

You should expect the opportunity to play in between now and June 30. C2C will set up two play days with our other regional teams here in Dallas. C2C will also enter teams in local select tournaments. All the boys will also have an opportunity to play in at least one out of town tournament, the NDP Colorado Cup located in Denver, CO the weekend of June 9th and 10th. The majority of games will be schedule May 1st to June 30th.

Conflict with School or Home Lacrosse Programs

C2C Texas Bandits does not compete with the boys' school teams or home programs. It is designed to be an additional outlet for the boys who want more practice and access to additional coaching. The coaches are committed to start practices earlier in the spring with the intention to remain competitive at the tournament. If there is a conflict with your home program, your son honor his commitment to his home/school program first with the C2C Texas Bandits second.

What is the time line? Program is designed to have all games and practices completed by the end of June.

What will be the practice schedule? C2C Texas Bandits teams will practice at least once every two weeks starting in May but prior to that a week or bi-weekly practice will be scheduled per team.

Who will coach these teams? The coaches are the top coaches in the North Region of DFW. A partial list includes: Brendan Carney - HS (McKinney), Richard Schwartz - U15 (Plano East), Bob Delaney - U13 (McKinney), Chris Creedon - U13 (McKinney), John Hampton - U11 (Frisco), Jason Gildea - U9 (Frisco), Doug Sheffield - U15 (Hebron), Kevin Gould - U11 (Plano), TBD (Plano West) and hopefully TBD (Allen). What about those cool team helmets? Although team helmets are not required, we strongly recommend every player purchase one. Not only would we like the teams to look all uniform but the CPX-r that we have standardized on is also one of the safest helmets manufactured today! C2C will be offering the helmets on line at an extremely good price. The helmets retail for $220 but C2C will be offering them for $150 plus tax, sticker cost and processing fee which brings the helmet to a total of $175.10
